Position Description:

Position Summary: 

Responsible for all activities involving the operations and maintenance of the water wells, distribution and wastewater collection systems.   Supervisory responsibilities for water  and wastewater system operators, maintenance technicians, and general maintenance workers and works under the general direction of the General Manager.  Works cooperatively with Capital Project Manager and EH&S Manager as senior management team of the project site.

 

Key Accountabilities: 

Reviews,evaluates, revises and /or establishes policies and procedures used in water & wastewater.

Schedules, directs and/or participates in review and evaluation of staff and equipment performance related to water and wastewater systems.
Participates in the preparation of Operations and Maintenance Budgets.  Reviews and approves expenditures.
Follows and implements Company’s Environmental, Health, and Safety Policies
Coordinates vendors and contractors, ensures proper services are provided, and performs inspections of work.
Maintains work records and preventative maintenance records and prepares various reports as assigned. 

Implements and maintains a computerized managed maintenance system (CMMS).
Effective and respectful communication and interactions with other employees, supervisors, individuals from other organizations and customers.
Directs and performs plant equipment maintenance functions and other related functions assigned or as they become apparent.

 

Skills

Ability to lead and motiviat front line staff

Ability to research, analyze, organize and present data/recommendations in an effective and efficient manner.

Ability to plan, coordinate and supervise the work of plant and system employees.

Must have broad knowledge of MS Word and Excel. .

Must be able to use and manage a computerized maintenance management program.

Ability to routinely lift up to 75 pounds unassisted, bend, climb stairs, and perform heavy maneuvers such as moving chemical drums or work with heavy mechanical tools.

Ability to perform accurate arithmetic calculations applicable to water systems and wastewater systems

 

Knowledge:

Knowledge of the objectives, equipment, and operations of water distribution systems and wastewater collection systems.

Knowledge of methods and materials of water and wastewater system repair and maintenance.

Familiarity with drinking water  and wastewater rules and regulations

Thorough knowledge of the layout, location and equipment characteristics of water and wastewater systems

Knowledge of health and safety regulations

Must possess a valid, active state driver’s license

A valid and active water and/or wastewater operator certification licenses - Water Treatment T3 License and Water Distribution system D3 License

 

Education / Qualifications

Must possess a high school diploma or GED, plus at least five (5) years progressively responsible experience in supervision of operations, maintenance and administration of water and wastewater  systems, or comparable plant/industrial experience . An equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted for experience.

Water Distribution system D3 License

 

Work Environment

Employee may be required to work indoor or outdoor work during seasonal heat and cold or other adverse weather conditions.

Employee may be required to work where regularly they may be exposed to fumes, dust and odors.

High noise levels from operations of equipment
