Under general supervision, perform technical work in the maintenance and repair of systems and equipment in Water/Wastewater Systems, operate equipment in the repair and maintenance of water and wastewater systems, and perform general duties assigned by project management.
Performs repairs, preventive and corrective maintenance on plant process equipment including; pumps, blowers, scrubbers, motors and chemical feed systems, maintains meters, pumps, electrical controls, emergency signaling and related
Clean and maintain wet wells and other pump station grounds, facilities and related equipment. Perform scheduled and unscheduled maintenance and repairs as needed.
Perform routine inspections of water wells, pump stations, lift stations and storage tanks, recording operational data in logs at direction of operator. Participate in repairs to water and sewer mains and services.
Respond to emergency operational situations during off-duty hours as necessary, rotating on call duties with supervisor or designated other(s), one week on, one week off to include weekends and holidays.
Follows and implements Company’s Environmental, Health, and Safety Policies. Leads implementation of Health and Safety program.
Pickup and deliver materials to work site. Materials may be located on Post or off Post and may require travel outside of the work location.
Effective and respectful communication and interactions with other employees, supervisors, individuals from other organizations, and citizen customers.
Perform Line locating of existing water and sewer utilities; Read and record water and sewer meter readings.
Performs other related functions assigned or as they become apparent or as management assigns
Effectively and safely operate construction equipment which may include grass cutting equipment, backhoes, trucks, line rodders and other similar equipment.
Effectively and safely operates hand tools, pneumatic tools, air compressors and other small equipment related to the maintenance trades and plant operations.
Ability to construct piping system components of PVC, Ductile Iron, galvanized material using industry standard fastening systems and techniques.
Ability to read and understand water and sewer system mapping and use information in the mark out of underground lines in accordance with state requirements
Knowledge of the techniques, equipment and materials used in the mechanical maintenance and repair of related equipment and systems.
Knowledge of pump station operations, lift station operations, collection and distribution system maintenance and repair.
Understand the proper procedures for joining pipe of different material.
Basic understanding of electrical power systems and ability to work on de-energized wiring systems
High School diploma or GED equivalent necessary commensurate experience may be considered
Additional trade specific courses preferred (requirement to provide documentation of course completion)
Prefer a Class B CDL license
Two to Three years experience in working on water and wastewater pipe construction, water or wastewater treatment plant maintenance.
Not required but water or wastewater operating license preferred
Employee may be required to work indoor or outdoor work during seasonal heat and cold or other adverse weather conditions.
Must be physically able to complete necessary tasks while wearing an approved respirator as required, as some required work may have potential for exposure to harmful contaminants, environments, noise, etc.
May have to work after normal work hours for on-call assignments
