Workforce Diversity Toolkit - An Overview

Laurie Dowling, NUDC Executive Director

The utilities industry is facing a defining moment in the development and management of its workforce that will leave its mark on the composition of the utilities labor force for decades to come. The topic of the changing utilities workforce and its accompanying emphasis on workforce diversity has gained significant focus among state regulatory commissions as well as national regulatory agencies.

As a response, the National Utilities Diversity Council (NUDC) in collaboration with the Subcommittee on Supplier and Workforce Diversity of the National Association of Regulatory Utility Commissioners (SWD/NARUC) and the US Department of Energy Office of Economic Impact and Diversity have created a National Workforce Diversity Toolkit (the Toolkit).

The Workforce Diversity Toolkit will generate important new pathways for the utilities industry and the workers, companies, workforce providers, government agencies, and regulators who dedicate their efforts to strengthening energy workforce opportunities for diverse communities.

After two years, the NUDC is excited to share this overview of The Toolkit on June 26, 2019. Attendees will receive a virtual walkthrough of The Toolkit’s components and will take part in an interactive discussion of how NUDC can adapt it to best meet the needs of the utilities and communications industries.
