A Tour of the Diversity Toolkit with NUDC

The Honorable James Campos, Director of the Office of Economic Impact and Diversity,

U.S. Department of Energy

Laurie Dowling, Executive Director, National Utilities Diversity Council

The Honorable Sadzi Oliva, Commissioner, Illinois Commerce Commission;

Chair, Subcommittee on Supplier and Workforce Diversity, NARUC

The utilities industry is facing a defining moment in the development and management of its workforce that will leave its mark on the composition of the utilities labor force for decades to come. The topic of the changing utilities workforce and its accompanying emphasis on workforce diversity has gained significant focus among state regulatory commissions as well as national regulatory agencies.

As a response, the National Utilities Diversity Council (NUDC) in collaboration with the Subcommittee on Supplier and Workforce Diversity of the National Association of Regulatory Utility Commissioners (SWD/NARUC) and the US Department of Energy Office of Economic Impact and Diversity have created an interactive Diversity Toolkit (the Toolkit).

Our collaborators at NARUC and the U.S. Department of Energy have been total champions of this project and we’re so pleased that The Honorable James Campos, Director of the Office of Economic Impact and Diversity, U.S. Department of Energy and The Honorable Sadzi Oliva, Commissioner, Illinois Commerce Commission and Chair, Subcommittee on Supplier and Workforce Diversity, NARUC, will join us to share insights on the Toolkit and diversity.

Please join us on July 16, 2020 for a tour of the Toolkit. Attendees will receive a virtual walkthrough of the Toolkit’s components and will take part in an interactive discussion of how NUDC and other organizations can adapt it to best meet the needs of the utilities and communications industries.

The Diversity Toolkit will generate important new pathways for the utilities industry and the workers, companies, workforce providers, government agencies, and regulators who dedicate their efforts to strengthening energy workforce opportunities for diverse communities.
