Emergency: The Role of Diverse Suppliers-Usual Emergencies and Unusual Emergencies

The Honorable Maida Coleman, Commissioner, Missouri Public Service Commission

Joan Kerr, Director of Supplier Chain Responsibility (Supplier Diversity, Sustainability and Ethics), Pacific Gas & Electric Company, NUDC Board of Directors

How are we ensuring that diverse suppliers are fully integrated into utility emergency and disaster preparedness supply chains? At times like this, there are huge spikes in spending in critical areas and if DBEs are not already integrated into those value chains, it is unlikely that they will suddenly get an opportunity in an emergency. On top of that we may be prepared for the “usual” emergencies within our supply chain, but what happens with “unusual” emergencies?  During this webinar, we will hear from The Honorable Maida Coleman, Commissioner of the Missouri Public Service Commission and Joan Kerr, Director of Supplier Chain Responsibility from Pacific Gas & Electric Company. They will share their perspectives of the commission and utilities by looking at best practices to get diverse suppliers in the emergency procurement chain.
