Returning Citizens and Organizational Knowledge: Pepco and the DC Infrastructure Academy

31Jul
Time: 10:00 am - 11:00 am

Panelists:

Brittny Pinto, Manager-Workforce Development, Pepco

As we search for ways to increase the utilities workforce now and in the coming years, creating successful pathways for returning citizens (formerly incarcerated individuals) can have a significant and positive impact on companies, communities and individuals.

A key component of this involves collaboration between utilities and programs working directly with returning citizens. Please join NUDC for a webinar on June 26th for an in-depth discussion of how Pepco participates in the District of Columbia Infrastructure Academy (DCIA). We’ll hear how this 14-week training program works, including how Pepco creates career opportunities for graduates.

Another critical aspect is how to manage company-wide knowledge and understanding for hiring returning citizens. Pepco has created an internal program that raises awareness of how the DCIA works by bringing together managers across various departments.
