NUDC Cochair Davante Lewis and board member Nelson Reyneri joined the "Data Centers and Affordability – The Role of Regulators" panel at the NARUC Summer Policy Summit. The panel brought together a utility regulator, an electric utility, and a multi-state water company to discuss how each is planning for unprecedented load growth from data centers while maintaining safe, reliable, and resilient service. Discussion covered best practices for collaboration and long-term planning as large-load customers connect to utility systems, along with what regulators need to weigh: balancing economic development with customer impacts, ensuring fair cost recovery, protecting system reliability, and supporting innovation in the public interest.
